Spirit of the Season

There may be a moment or two over the next week, month, or even year where you will question what you are doing for your child.  You may be disheartened by other people’s comments, actions, or reactions as they relate to your child.  You may experience doubt and feel at times you are designing a life that can never be built.  People may bring you to tears, anger you, or misunderstand you.

I’ve felt all of those feelings and more, but I kept my eye on my hopes and dreams for my child.  I knew deep inside in order for my child and family to believe all was possible… I needed to believe first.

My gift to you this holiday season is a writing my brother gave to me years ago, that is in part by Mother Theresa of Calcutta.

 Spirit of the Season

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self centered;

Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives;

Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win false friends and some true enemies;

Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you;

Be honest and frank anyway.

What you spend years building could be destroyed by someone overnight;

Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, people may be jealous;

Be happy anyway.

The good you do could be easily forgotten by tomorrow;

Do good anyway.

Give your child the best you have, and it may never be enough;

Give your child the best you have anyway.

You see in the final analysis, it’s all between you and your child;

It was never between you and them, anyway.

To your aspirations for your child!

Have a joyous holiday,

Anne
